REAL LIFE STORY IMAGERY

These are just two of the several pictures I took of my model Jackson, for my second real life story. I wanted a boy because I thought it was important to look at STIs from a boy’s point of view, I wanted my magazine appeal to both males and females and I thought if all the imagery was off girls boys would feel like it wasn’t a campaign for them. I wanted the picture to be portrait and to fit his whole boy in. I had previously planned the layout of my magazine and I knew I was going to cut him away from the background and put the picture down the entire right hand page.
The pictures were very simple to take. The aperture was set to 4.5 and I turned the camera to 1/60 for a very quick capture. I wanted to avoid motion blur, with a crisp picture that would be easier to cut out from the white backdrop. I wanted the model to wear Chinos as they are fashionable but i also wanted his clothing to tone in with my layout – a bright purple jumper would have stood out to much from the rest of the colour scheme.
